Hike With A Ranger: Winter

  • Crosby Farm Regional Park 2595 Crosby Farm Road Saint Paul, MN, 55116 United States (map)

The possibilities for discovery at Crosby Farm Regional Park are endless in winter.

Join National Park Service staff for an introductory hike and discover the different types of animal activity we can observe in the winter.  Each hike is different—you never know what (or who!) you might see!  We may observe coyote tracks, signs of beaver activity, or bald eagle nests.  As we wander through the floodplain forest, be prepared for frequent stops as we search the trees and watch the ground for evidence of the animals who frequent the area.

Expectations:

  • There are no heating facilities available.

  • Extended stops to discuss birding techniques, animal signs, or questions group members have.

  • Hiking distance is approximately 1.5-2.0 miles on relatively level terrain; however, conditions can vary!

  • Bring weather-appropriate clothing and footwear, including equipment for travel across snow and/or icy conditions (e.g., traction devices, trekking poles). Consider additional gear you need to be comfortable outside as we may stop frequently upon wildlife sightings.

  • This is a family-friendly event.

Free parking is available in the parking lot at Crosby Farm Regional Park. Meet at the pavilion.
